Meet The Owners
Hi everyone! We’re Mercedes and Aldus, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this new adventure, building our dream life together.
Mercedes is from Utah, and I’m from Washington state, but our paths crossed in 2019 when we met at Southern Virginia University. By 2022, we were married! After years of city life in Salt Lake, juggling busy careers and feeling overworked, we realized we wanted something different for our future. We longed for a slower, more intentional way of living, one rooted in family, nature, and meaningful work. The Shenandoah Valley is stunning and has always felt like "our place." It’s where we met, fell in love, and grew together as a couple. With family nearby, including Mercedes' parents, who split their time between a home close to the farm here and another home, as well as her grandparents, we knew this was where we wanted to plant our roots.
We’ve always loved being outdoors, tackling new projects, traveling, and discovering great food. Every step of the way, we’ve felt guided to this opportunity, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Now, we get to build the life we’ve dreamed of, one centered around family, animals, and the land. We’re both excited (and a little nervous!) to take the leap into farm life, embrace its challenges, and celebrate its rewards. We hope you’ll join us as we raise these amazing cows, grow our family, and dive headfirst into this incredible journey!

The Lord has blessed our family with this picturesque "Ridge". Cyrus is an ancient name meaning "lord". We put those two names together and that is how the name Cyrus Ridge was born! Our goal is to produce micro-miniature Scottish Highland Cattle with quality genetics and docile dispositions. We hope to give children, adults, and families the opportunity to raise animals on any size farm, so they too can experience all of the wonderful blessings a farm has to offer.
